Top 5 – Moments in the ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer

The latest Captain America: Civil War trailer dropped today and needless to say, it is as epic as any trailer released this year.  I had the movie ranked at number seven on my most anticipated movies of the year.  But after this trailer, I would now move it up to within my top five.  Here are what I saw as the best moments from the latest trailer.   Here is the trailer incase you haven’t watched…

Top 5 – Actors That Could Play J Jonah Jameson

It was announced yesterday that Oscar winner J.K. Simmons will be playing Commissioner Gordon in The Justice League (2017).  While this is great news for DC and The Justice League, this does sadden me a bit.  This ultimately means that Simmons will be unable to reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, scheduled to come out in 2017.  Simmons portrayal of Jameson is iconic and arguably the best part of the Sam Raimi directed Spider-Man films….

Top 5 – Awesome Movies Coming Out in March

February has come and gone, and it was surprisingly a great month in cinema.  Movies like Deadpool, Hail, Caesar, and The Witch were all great in their own way and were bright spots in what is usually a dead month for movies.  But now, it is on the March, which is usually the real start to the cinematic year.  I probably should have made this last before this past weekend so I could have put…

Top 5 – Dirty Cop Movies

This weekend, John Hillcoat’s Triple 9 comes out.  I am extremely excited for this movie, as it was one of my most anticipated movies of last year before it got pushed back.  The cast is tremendous and I love gritty, corrupt cop movies.  So in honor of that, here are the dirtiest of dirty cop movies.     5 – Premium Rush (David Koepp, 2012) “Premium Rush” is a criminally (pun?) underrated movie.  I don’t…

Oscar 2015 – The ‘Other’ Oscars

The Academy can’t nominate every movie, it’s impossible.  There are always snubs and always a debate about which movie should have gotten in and which one shouldn’t be there.  For the eight nominees for Best Picture, there are eight other movies that could have been there instead.  So that’s what I’m going to do here.  I am going to nominate movies and performances in the major categories that I felt deserved a spot in their…

Oscar Predictions – Who Should and Will Win

Tonight’s the big night!  Check out my final Oscar predictions of who should and will win the big prize tonight.   I apologize for all my wrong predictions.   BEST PICTURE Stats say The Big Short, hype says The Revenant.  Definitely room for an upset, but it’s between those two. WILL WIN – THE REVENANT SHOULD WIN – SPOTLIGHT   BEST DIRECTOR After the DGA, Inarritu is set up for history.  George Miller could surprise for his…

Review – Race

Before even seeing Race, it already had a couple things going against it.  The first is that, even though it is a sports movie, it isn’t about basketball or football or one of the major, more exciting sports.  It is about track and field, a sport people only care about every four years.  The second thing is that we know the ending already because it is one of the most historic moments in Olympic and…

Top 5 – Sports Biopics

This Friday, the Jesse Owens biopic Race hits theaters.  I will be posting my review of the film on Thursday, but I will say, it’s a goodie.  So in honor of Race, let’s take a look at the best sports biopics.   5- Miracle (Gavin O’Connor, 2004) You know it is a good sports movie when you know the ending, yet you are still on the edge of your seat during every sports scene, hoping the…

Top 5 – Ryan Reynolds Movies

Ryan Reynolds was once just a pretty face and six pack.  Now, he is one of the best leading men in Hollywood.  He can do comedy, action, romance, and even drama.  This weekend, Reynolds stars alongside Samuel L. Jackson in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which is a very, very funny movie.  So in honor of that, here are my picks for the best Ryan Reynolds movies.   Remember, this list is based on movie quality and Reynolds’…

Top 5 – Movies of 1988

On this, the ninth day of February, in the year of nineteen hundred and eighty eight, a young man was brought into this world.  This is a man who, years down the line, would find his true calling as a movie writer, and later be known as Kevflix. That’s right, today is my birthday.  So in honor of this glorious occasion, I’m going to rank the five best movies that came out in the year…
