With Baby Driver, director Edgar Wright has created something only a true master of the craft could make.  This a movie that brings so many genres together, Quentin Tarantino would be jealous.  It’s a heist film, action film, car film, gangster film, musical, comedy, and love story, all rolled into one, two hour epic that keeps your heart pumping and your face smiling. After a run-in with crime boss Doc (Kevin Spacey) when…

Salma Hayek may want to start prepping her Oscar speech because she is truly remarkable in Beatriz at Dinner.  This is a wonderful film about cultural differences that features two of the best performances of 2017. Beatriz (Hayek) is a holistic medicine practitioner and physical therapist.  While doing a house-call massage session for one of her closest and wealthiest clients, she is invited to stay for a dinner party after her car breaks down….

Michael Bay is back to blow up our senses and ruin our childhoods in Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth installment of the Transformers franchise.  This is an incredibly long, ridiculously loud, brain-numbing film that requires at least six Advil after the movie is finished. During past Transformers films, the headaches would be caused by the sheer amount of action, sound, special effects, and editing all jumbled into one wild, two and a half hour…

Out of the 80+ movies I have seen so far in 2017, The Book of Henry is easily one of the weirdest.  What starts off as a quirky family dramedy takes a hard left turn into dark drama and then does a backflip into coming of age thriller.  It is truly a roller coaster of emotions. It’s really hard to describe this movie without giving some major spoilers for the movie.  Henry (Jaeden…

It’s Weekend at Bernie’s (1989) meets Bridesmaids (2011) in Rough Night, a rowdy, hilarious, girls-night-out comedy that offers up more than just a slew of laughs. In Rough Night, Jess (Scarlett Johannson), Alice (Jillian Bell), Blair (Zöe Kravitz), and Frankie (Illana Glazer) are college friends who grew up and grew apart.  Jess is running for political office, Alice is a teacher that is obsessed with her and Jess’s relationship, Blair is a successful business woman going through…

Rapper Tupac Shakur was a unique individual.  He was incredibly smart and an extremely talented rapper and actor, making some 0f the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.  Yet his personal life was subject to controversy, as it was filled with court cases, shootings, and prison time, all leading up to his untimely death in 1996 at the young age of 25.  This man’s life had the makings of a great biopic and after…

Cars 3 brings us back into the world of hot-shot race car Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson), still at the top of the racing world.  Early in the film, he gets into a horrific accident during one of his races trying to keep up with the newer, faster cars.  This accident puts McQueen on the disabled list and makes him contemplate his future.  Can he still compete?  Can he keep up with the…
