Unlike last year’s crop of Best Picture nominees, I am actually rather pleased with this year’s nominees.  Of the nine nominees, four of the films made my top ten of 2019, seven of the nine nominees were in my top 25 of last year, and there is only one nominee that I genuinely do not like.  With the field being this strong, I would only get mad if the movie I did not like won. …

The Oscar race is heating up.  With the Fall film festivals coming to a close, the picture is getting a bit clearer as to who may be nominated.  Everything is still up in the air, though, as there are nearly a dozen films that could take home the gold statue this year.  Hopefully things will become clearer as the months go on and critics awards begin rolling in, but until then, here are my predictions…
