Top 5 – Movie Cars
There have been some iconic cars throughout the cinema’s life. Some of them are cars people can actually drive, some of them fly. Whether it was used in a high-speed pursuit or to go back in time, cars have lived in movies forever. So in honor of Cars 3 coming out this weekend, here are my picks for the best movie cars.
5 – ASTON MARTIN DB5 from GOLDFINGER (Guy Hamilton, 1964)
James Bond is the man when it comes to cars. They are always exotic and filled with enough toys to get James out of any situation. But the most iconic car out of all the James Bond films is the Aston Martin. The Aston Martin has appeared in a number of Bond films, most recently in Casino Royale (2006), which would have also been a worthy choice for this list. But I had to go with the original, the Aston Martin DB5, seen first in Goldfinger. Equipped with oil slick, smoke screens, ejector seat, radar tracking system, machine guns, and revolving license plates, all while looking dashing as hell, this is the ideal car for any super spy.

4 – BUMBLEBEE from TRANSFORMERS (Michael Bay, 2007)
Bumblebee has a lot going for him (it?). As a car, it is a 2007 Chevy Camaro in a bright ass yellow with black racing stripes down the middle. The car is great to look at and is reminiscent of the Camaro’s of old. But what makes it even better? He’s a freaking robot! And not just any robot, but one of the best ones you could ask for. He has a personality and a sense of humor, but will defend you with everything he has. Sure, his playlist may be a little spotty and you may get caught in an intergalactic battle to save earth from other robots, but Bumblebee will protect you with his life. Oh, and he has some pretty badass friends to help him out too.

3 – 1961 FERRARI GT250 from FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF (John Hughes, 1986)
The only “normal” car on this list, the 1961 Ferrari GT250 is also the sexiest car on the list. Kept in pristine condition and hand wiped with a diaper, Cameron’s dad new how to keep the beauty in tact. A statement maker wherever it goes, it attracts all comers from strict, older men, to high school bros, to sketchy parking lot attendants. Sleek, fast, and in a firey red, you fall in love just by looking at it and hearing its engine purr.
2 – THE BATMOBILE from BATMAN (Tim Burton, 1989)
Batman has gone through a lot of automobiles in his career. But when you think Batmobile, you think of Michael Keaton’s ride. With its blacker than black paint job, this car screams Dark Knight. It’s ridiculously long and iconic front end, quick acceleration (thanks to its jet turbine engine), and some cool gadgets like mounted machine guns and the ability to shield itself make this the ultimate ride for any badass. They’ve tried to replicate it, they’ve even tried to go a different route with it, but this is the Batmobile that defines Batman.
1 – THE DELOREAN from BACK TO THE FUTURE (Robert Zemeckis, 1985)
Not a lot of cars beat out the Batmobile. However, when you’re a failed 80’s product with ridiculous doors that can go back in time, you deserve the top spot. The Delorean itself is not a great car, with tons of mechanical issues causing this car to be a quick fad. However, give it some plutonium and 1.21 jigwatts, and you have a time machine on wheels, so long as you get it up to 88 miles per hour. As long as Libyans don’t realize you have their plutonium, you’re in the clear to go wherever you want in history, which is why the Delorean is the coolest movie car.
